I Made Djirna

I Made DjirnaI Made Djirna was born in 1957 in Kedewatan, Ubud, Bali. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta) in 1985, and is a member of Sanggar Dewata Indonesia (SDI).

Djirna is very active in holding and joining exhibitions, both solo and group, in many Indonesian cities as well as overseas. He is known to be very productive in creating all kind of experimental works, using different materials, techniques and styles. His artistry is documented in a book, Selected Works of Made Djirna From the Year 2000 (2001). Now he lives and works in his home village.

A glance at Djirna’s multifaceted works shows his artistic motivations and the tempestuous emotions that influence his creative process. Djirna passionately transforms lines, colours, texture and figures into all kinds of graphic compositions.

He tends to work in series, using modern technology in creating his painting that he captured from digital photo then develop them through computer design graphic
effect. His works are considered belongs to Andy Warhol’s pop art style that focused the attention in imaging object. Agus SuwageAgus Suwage was born in Purwerejo, Central Java, on 14 April 1959. He studied graphic design in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB, Bandung Institute of Tecnology) in West Java from 1979 to 1986. Agus was artist in residence in 1996 at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia; from 1999 to 2000 at theMuseum of Modern Art in Saitama, Japan; and in 2003 for the Brito International Artists Workshop in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Augustinus Kus Windananto aka Jompet

JompetJompet was born in Jogjakarta, 1976, and studied at the Communication Department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University. Jompet uses varied new media techniques to elaborate social ideas. In his installation/interactive/sculptural practice Jompet experiments with various electronic instruments in an attempt to present visual images through moving objects. In his performance work Jompet uses elaborate mechanical set-ups that he interfaces with electronic equipment. He investigates the idiosyncrasies of embracing technology and the disregard of the human biomechanical system. Jompet uses body movement coupled with reactive electronic sensors to achieve a synergistic energy between man and machine – introducing a fully interactive experience.

Putu Sutawijaya was born in Angseri, Tabanan, Bali,, on 27 November 1971. He finished his studies in painting in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta), in 1998. His work was nominated among the ten best in the Phillip Morris Indonesia Art Awards 1999. In 2000 he received the Lempad Prize for his art from Sanggar Dewata Indonesia 9SDI), and currently serves as the general chairman for his artists’ group which is based in Yogyakarta. He has held solo exhibitions in Bali, Yogyakarta, Singapore, Hongkong, and in Galeri Canna in Jakarta in 2004. He uses both Yogyakarta and Bali as his homes and places to work.
