Augustinus Kus Windananto aka Jompet

JompetJompet was born in Jogjakarta, 1976, and studied at the Communication Department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University. Jompet uses varied new media techniques to elaborate social ideas. In his installation/interactive/sculptural practice Jompet experiments with various electronic instruments in an attempt to present visual images through moving objects. In his performance work Jompet uses elaborate mechanical set-ups that he interfaces with electronic equipment. He investigates the idiosyncrasies of embracing technology and the disregard of the human biomechanical system. Jompet uses body movement coupled with reactive electronic sensors to achieve a synergistic energy between man and machine – introducing a fully interactive experience.

Potato Head presents JAVA’S MACHINE, an art installation by one of the most talented Indonesian artist Agustinus Kuswidananto, a.k.a Jompet. The installation showcases fifteen ‘phantom soldiers’ where each will operate synchronized musical instruments, videos and mechanical objects. Experience this unique form of sound and video orchestra.
