Return to The Abstraction

Curated by I Wayan Seriyoga Parta

Friend or Foe

Artist: I Gede Arya Sucitra, I Nyoman Agus Wijaya
Curated by Kadek Krishna Adidharma

Friend or Foe juxtaposes very different artists: a painter and a sculptor. Both Arya Sucitra and Nyoman Agus Wijaya are young up-and-coming artists who have shown promising beginnings. They have unique sensibilities. Arya chooses to paint cows on canvas, while Nyoman sculpts dogs out of metal. Both have chosen animals they love. Yet these creatures remain an enigma to the artists, especially in unveiling mankind’s relationship with these domesticated creatures.

Arsenic Fantasy

Arsenic Fantasy“This exhibition marks a truly important point of my career. Although I have exhibited internationally in the past, it is the first time I’m showing work in Indonesia. I have quite an eclectic background; born in New York, our Balinese family lived in Indonesia, Singapore, America and the UK. Growing up I developed quite a strong affinity to Bali, considered it as one of my many ‘homes’ and quickly learnt that ‘identity’ was neither fixed nor stable. ‘Identity’ was not about where you lived or about where your parents came from; rather it was about developing a series of differences; establishing a role in the world that was culturally constructed, wholly transient and constantly changing in relation to a globalised economy.”

Sponsored by the British Council UK, London based artist Sinta Tantra, acclaimed for her public artworks and installations, stages her first major international solo show this November in Indonesia’s prestigious Gaya Art Space. The exhibition explores ideas surrounding fantasy and identity; simultaneously celebrating as well as deconstructing surface surface sheen, seduction and faith in artifice.

KRONIK DUNIA BARU

KRONIK DUNIA BARUKRONIK DUNIA BARU
Curator : Arif Bagus Prasetyo

SYAHDAN, Modernitas menjanjikan Dunia Baru.

ADI’s SPELLING (From A – Z)

ADI's SPELLINGAlphabet in our life.

Maybe it is funny if we only see the outline of this exhibition’s concept, Adi presents, as we re-member our first experiences reading the alphabet. When we were children, our teacher taught us one by one – so we could spell it right. We started to combine those letters and we created words first, than sentences – finally we where able to create statements with all expressions we wanted.

What Adi does, is not trying to be a teacher. Every letter he presents is a part of a voice from some one who really cares about what happens in this world. A-Z is a magnificent combination of “situations happen” all over the world, and which are packed in this exhibition. What I see is, that this is a really “knock knock” to our heart, our mind, our eyes –

howmuch 2 homage, An Art Exhibition by Yosa Batuprasada

howmuch 2 homageHowmuch2Homage?
